So: I resigned from a pharmacy in April, after Josie (the associate) retired and the new owner misunderstood my availability (which turned out to be me reading the room well, since the number of shifts decreased dramatically from what I hear). What I didn't realize was that the pharmacy was supposed to convert accrued vacation hours into money and send to me - that did not happen until the Loblaws-wide launch of Workday HR interface, which was fortunate? (otherwise, I would have never known about it; that was the first time I resigned from a job)
(Which is good, since I needed the money now more than in March)
With the money for the in-law visit in October saved (yes!), I've been spending a bit of money on items that I've been waiting on:
- A new bag (exactly the same as my current bag but larger - the current bag cannot close with MacBook Pro 14", never mind with iPad)
- Underwear (yes) - bought yesterday from Winners
- Small items
- Charging cables - I loved the one we bought years ago but they are all occupied, buying it again
- Small portable charger with built-in Apple Watch charging port - will always include it in the new bag (it can be clipped!)
- Egg cooker - Anthony was against it, and I don't like single-purpose appliances, but I need it
- Cat items
- Expected: cat tree! - I was thinking a simple vertical floor-to-ceiling cat tree (I liked the idea of tension rod holding things) due to space constraints, but Tom was ok with the larger variety
- Unexpected: cat litter boxes - they are old and need to be replaced
Now for the heavy items:
- Hard drive for media back-up
- The more my media files pile up, the more I'm worried about disk failure
- Due to AI boom, HDD are now double the price of 2 years ago
- I bought this (internal HDD) but from Canada Computers, $50 cheaper - the most palatable option
- This will only back up TV shows + partially movie drive
- I was thinking used/refurbished HDD is ok for this purpose, but could not find any
